Italian Gourmet Pizza
If you’ve ever eaten pizza in Naples, Italy, you can stop reading this right now, grab the car keys and head to Scuola Vecchia where you will have that mind blowing pizza experience again.

Italy is so serious about Pizza Napoletana that it has a protected status, a Denomination of Control (DOC). To be allowed to call your pizza “Pizza Napoletana” you have to be certified by the Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani (APN).  Well, guess what. Scuola Vecchia owner Shaun Aloisio was one of the first in the US to receive that certification. An honor bestowed upon only those who meet the high standards set by the APN.

At Scuola Vecchia (which means “old school”), Shaun and his mother Sharon create pizza that meet the standards in everything from flour consistency to the authentic San Marzano tomatoes used in the sauce, to the quality of the mozzarella and the stretching of the dough. Pizzas are baked in a bell-shaped wood-fired oven that they brought over in one piece, from Naples, Italy.  The oven uses volcanic stone to cook pizzas at 950 degrees. In 90 seconds, they achieve perfection. If you really want to impress your hosts, eat your pizza with a knife & fork like they do in Napoli!

If the name Scuola Vecchia Pizza e Vino sounds familiar, it’s probably because you visited them in Delray.  After 10 years on Atlantic Ave., they moved the restaurant to a larger space in Coral Springs and transformed a coffee shop into a bright, chic Italian cafe with indoor and outdoor dining and a beautiful herb garden where fresh basil, rosemary and more is hand picked.

Along with those stunning pizza, the Fettuccine and Burrata is made in house. The homemade Arancini (3 beautiful deep fried rice balls) are individually stuffed with Bolognese, mushrooms and spinach.  A stellar meal deserves a nice bottle of vino and nothing ends the meal better than Affogato!
